M/API

MAPI / EAPI MINUS / CONNECT

Connect your tools.

Model calls, management operations, and browser actions have distinct entry points and credentials.

The free, invitation-only pilot is open. The first 10 students each receive CNY 50 in trial usage credit. Usage pauses at the limit; there is no automatic renewal or upfront payment. Claim your invitation or sign in with your personal key. Open the personal portal → · Request a trial / email Ryan

Pilot scope: GPT and Gemini passed a synthetic tool request, tool-result return, and follow-up response. Claude text calls previously succeeded, but this Chat tool request returned upstream HTTP 400; tool compatibility is not assured. The actual WorkBuddy client and complete presentation, paper, and office workflows have not been validated.

MAPI / PILOT

Student pilot: claim on the web, nothing to install

Pilot seats are issued individually by Ryan. Each person gets a personal link, a separate MAPI key and a fixed quota that stops when used up.

  1. Claim your key. Open your link. The key is issued only after you read the notice and confirm it yourself, and it is shown once.
  2. See your quota. The personal portal shows your own remaining quota, spend and recent requests, and nobody else's.
  3. Pick an agent and API. Choose a tool and model below or in the portal, then copy the base URL, model name and key. A MAPI key is not a vendor key.
  4. Test, then try. The portal tests your connection at no cost and lets you send a short message to a model, which counts against your quota.

This page does not ask for your key; the setup shows a placeholder. A Mac app is an optional download that opens the same portal. Everything works without it. Email Ryan if you need a seat. The pilot does not use PayPal and never tops up automatically.

Three names, three roles

MAPI is the platform. EAPI Minus is the product for individuals and teams. E-API is an upstream model provider. EAPI Minus uses separate credentials for model access and administration.

01 / Codex and other agents

Student and model access are live; administration uses a private connection
PurposeAddressCredential

Personal portal (claim key, see quota)https://api.closeai.tech/Personal claim link or member API key
Management MCPPrivate connection, not on the public internetDedicated agent token

Codex model calls use Responses; Claude Code uses Messages. MCP manages usage, budgets, key claims, and upstream status. It does not replace the model API.

  1. Initialize MCP, list tools, and call status to read your identity, permissions, and the current revision.
  2. Use the schemas returned by tools/list. Usage reports, audit searches, and request explanations return structured data.
  3. Preview mutations with dry_run: true. Supply expect_revision when applying a change to avoid overwriting a newer state.
  4. Inspect ok, data, and error.code. A budget request awaiting approval is not an applied grant.

The existing agent role can read status and usage, request or undo budget grants, create key-claim links, revoke member keys, and test or enable/disable upstream keys. Creating members or administrators and approving requests beyond policy remain administrator operations. MCP does not return upstream key plaintext.

02 / Browsers and computer use

The console uses standard buttons, named fields, keyboard-accessible navigation, and labeled dialogs. Active pages, loading states, and errors have semantic markers so a computer-use agent can inspect the actual outcome of an action.

After login, available pages include overview, sources, teams, members, usage, and audit. Controls reflect the account's permissions. Enter credentials through a trusted channel; ordinary browsing does not require an upstream provider key.

03 / Protocol coverage

Checked against the current gateway source and E-API documentation. Implemented does not mean production-verified on the Hong Kong deployment.

API familyImplementationLive evidence
Chat CompletionsImplemented, including streamingE-API: short text passed for GPT, Claude and Gemini; Gemini streaming passed
ResponsesImplemented, with streaming and compact routingE-API: GPT Responses streaming passed; compact not yet tested
Anthropic Messages / count_tokensImplementedE-API: Sonnet Messages and streaming passed after one 503; count_tokens not enabled

An available model name does not imply support for every protocol, parameter, or tool. E-API's documentation describes forwarding limits as well; each selected capability needs appropriate verification.

MAPI / PAYMENT

Agree on your order, then pay.

Manual review · No automatic top-up

Free-pilot participants should not pay. No payment card is required for the pilot. The PayPal link below is only for separately agreed orders.

Please confirm the service, amount, and order reference with Ryan before paying through PayPal. This link is for orders you have already agreed on together.

  1. Enter the agreed amount in US dollars.
  2. Enter the order reference Ryan provided.
  3. Ryan will check the payment and arrange the service as agreed.

Payment does not automatically add API credit to MAPI or E-API, or activate model access.

MAPI / CONTACT

Tell me where you got stuck.

Email Ryan to request a trial, get help setting up WorkBuddy, or report a problem. Include your task, operating system, app, and error message; hide keys and private information in screenshots. Professor trials begin with assisted setup. The MAPI Mac app is optional for claiming a key. Full WorkBuddy office workflows are still being validated.

Email Ryan about setup, usage, or the product. Support is asynchronous, not live chat. Please do not send API keys or passwords.

The E-API referral link in the footer opens the upstream service. Its account and balance are separate from the free MAPI pilot.

Mac pilot app

A native window for the personal portal and private administration. Students can use the website without installing an app. This build is not Apple-notarized.
